The 4M Smarties started the week with a seriousness of purpose and perseverance on the Math MCAS. They all said they felt prepared and weren’t surprised by any of the questions. This is the end of standardized testing for this year.
The Invention Convention is this Wednesday, 6-7 pm in our 4th grade classrooms! We watched a few sales pitches on Shark Tank this week and wrote and practiced our own sales pitches to prepare for Wednesday. Everyone has done a wonderful job completing each part of this assignment in school. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday!
Students read and discussed Joshua’s Song this week. They have developed excellent conversation skills this year and are confident during group book discussions. They can share their thoughts and opinions, piggyback on others’ ideas and contribute insightful questions.
Nikki Hu will be visiting the 4th grade on Friday, May 27th. She will lead the group in an interpretive dance of a Chinese folk tale. It’s always amazing how she skillfully gets 90 ten-year-olds organized and prepared to put on a show by the end of the day. Everyone must wear sneakers and comfortable clothing on Friday.
The Battle of the Books will be during the week of May 31st. We are going to decorate team t-shirts next week, so each student is asked to bring in a white t-shirt. This can be an old t-shirt or one with logos (We can turn it inside out.) Please send in a t-shirt by Friday, May 27th.
The 4th grade Physics Olympics will be Thursday, June 16th, from 9:00 am - 12:15 pm. (This is our “field day.”) We need ten volunteers from our classroom. Please email me or let me know in the website comment box below. Thank you!
