We are approaching the station! I cannot believe that the end of 4th grade is upon us. What an amazing journey it has been with the 4M Smarties this year!
As we prepare to close up our classroom and head into summer, there are a few things to remember…
Physics Olympics is Thursday, June 16th. Students should bring their lunch so we can eat outside after the activities. They should also bring a water bottle and wear sneakers and sunscreen. Thanks again to all the parents who volunteered. Information went home today with details about your responsibilities.
The 5th grade summer reading book is The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. Some students have already read this excellent book because it was on this year’s Battle of the Books list, but it’s always worth a second read. Parents might enjoy it, too!
Avoid the summer slide! The students have worked so hard this year, we want them to start 5th grade on the right foot! They will bring home their Writer’s Notebooks next week and there are still some blank pages to be filled! Continue the informal writing they have done all year by writing about summer activities. Summer is also a great time for reading! The kids shared so many good titles this year on Kidblog, so they should have some recommendations from classmates. In addition, we are spending these last weeks reading independently and sharing Google Slides presentations about our books with the class. Below is a link to Eight Cousins Bookstore in Falmouth, MA. Their monthly newsletters are full of recommendations for all ages, and they specialize in children’s books.
