The Living History Museum is ready to go! After six weeks of reading, writing, revising and preparing, the 4M Smarties are excited (and a little nervous) to show off what they have learned. This week they learned public speaking skills and practiced their questions and answers. We will have a dress rehearsal on Monday and present to the other 4th grade classes and our Little Buddies. On Tuesday, parents are invited to visit from 8:30 - 9:15 in the presentation room and meet people like Leonardo daVinci, Steve Jobs and Lucille Ball, just to name a few! Parents may enter and leave through the presentation room door.
Our Literature Circles are also up and running. Students met in small groups to share their thoughts about the book, Joshua Song. They are practicing listening skills and piggy-backing on each other’s ideas to keep a conversation going. I recorded parts of each group’s discussion this week and will give them time to view and reflect on their participation next week.
After the Unit 3 test this Friday, we will start Unit 4 on Monday. The focus is multi-digit multiplication, so all students must know their facts fluently in order to learn the steps of multiplying larger numbers.
Thanks to all the families that were able to “Meet at the Movies” last week! It was fun to share the experience of watching the movie Wonder with all the 4M Smarties and families! We are almost finished reading the book. Thank you also to Mrs. Corey for helping with math games and set-up of the Living History Museum.
Looking for gift ideas? Here are some games we play in 4M that would make fun gifts...
