First things first… on Thursday’s MCAS Long Composition, the 4M Smarties started writing quickly, were focused and serious about their task. It was an intense day, but when we reflected today, they all said they felt prepared and had something to write about. I was very proud their stamina. On Monday and Tuesday they will take the English Language Arts tests. Students should get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning.
This was the perfect week for us to write poetry! There’s nothing better than the freedom to play around with words, and not worry about grammar and punctuation! I shared a few of my favorite poems and we used them as inspiration to write our own. We will publish these next week. We also are wrapping up our Andrew Clements Literature Circles. The last groups will meet next week. Everyone is already excited and curious about what novel we will read next…. What will it be?
Everyone had their invention ideas approved this week! An important notice is going home today with details about how the tri-fold board will be organized. It also has a list of which parts will be completed at home and which parts will be complete in school. Please let me know if you have any questions.
There will be a Unit 8 test in math on Friday. This will cover area and perimeter, as well as adding fractions with like and unlike denominators. A study guide will go home on Wednesday. Thanks to Frida’s dad for helping with math games today!
Thank you to all the parents who have sent or are sending in snacks on our testing days. This was a great help.
