Week Two of 4th grade was busy, busy, busy! I asked the students, “What is your superpower?” and we listened to a picture book about Jimi Hendricks, the amazing electric guitar player. Jimi worked hard through his childhood to become the best guitar player he could be. Students identified their own superpower and wrote a paragraph about how they have worked to develop their skills.
In math, we practiced moving into groups to play math games and work with partners. We reviewed place value and rounding.
In science, we planted our Wisconsin Fast Plant seeds and hope to see a sprout on Monday!
On Monday, we will be decorating our Writer’s Notebooks. I have paint pens, duct tape, ribbons and foam letters in the classroom for this activity. Students are welcome to bring in any other materials they might like to use on Monday. This is optional.
Curriculum Night is on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 6:30 – 7:30. Students are welcome, but not required, attend. I look forward to meeting everyone!
Homework will begin on Monday. I will be sending home a purple sheet with homework assignments on Monday. Students will be able to plan their week in order to complete their work by Friday.
Ask a Fourth Grader…
* What did Jimi Hendricks do to become such a great guitar player?
* What is your superpower?
* What is 45,318 rounded to the nearest thousand?
* What will help your Wisconsin Fast Plant grow?
* What does a scientist look like?
