Our Writer's Workshop continued to hum with students finishing their research and writing their facts into organized paragraphs. We practiced writing introductions that grab a reader's attention and let the reader know what the piece is about. When it was time to revise, students went back through their details to be sure it was clear why each was important.
Next week, students will be asked to make a poster at home about the person they are researching. Details will be sent home on Monday on the Homework Assignment Sheet. The poster will be due the following Monday, November 10th. Students should also be thinking about what they will wear for the Living History Museum, where they will take on the role of the person they researched. Our Living History Museum will be open for parents to visit on Wednesday, November 19th at 8:45 am in the presentation room! We hope you can come!
We will have a math test on Unit 3 on Monday. Students can review vocabulary this weekend. In case they have misplaced their vocabulary study guide... factor, factor pairs, multiple, product, prime and composite.
Thank you to all the parents who came in on Friday to celebrate Halloween and play math games! The kiddos had a great time thanks to Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Monnich, Mrs. Cahillane, Mrs. Kucht, Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Flynn. I have added an optional second column for math games volunteers, if the date you were interested in had already been filled.
This Wednesday, Nov. 5th is an early release day for conferences. You can sign up through the Foster School website. I am also available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Email me if you would like to meet one morning.
